Some people appreciate the unique, earthy taste of mushrooms. However, for many, this flavor can be too strong. If you're not immediately a fan of the taste or texture, it doesn't mean you have to give up on the mushroom adventure. There are ways to turn mushrooms and truffles into delightful delicacies!

A simple way to soften the flavor is by drying the mushrooms, grinding them into a powder, and then adding them to a glass of fresh orange juice. But there are many more flavorful preparations. Below, we share some of our all-time favorite recipes that can make mushrooms a favorite part of your menu.

Truffle Chocolates

For making mushroom or truffle chocolate, you'll need:

  • Dried mushrooms or truffles
  • Large saucepan
  • Glass bowl
  • Sharp knife
  • Chocolate mold or non-stick baking tray
  • Various store-bought chocolate bars – the darker, the better

  1. Ensure your mushrooms or truffles are well dried.
  2. Cut the mushrooms/truffles into small pieces.
  3. Break the chocolate into small pieces and add to the bowl.
  4. Fill the pan with water and place the glass bowl with chocolate inside.
  5. Bring the water to a boil. Stir the chocolate continuously as it melts.
  6. Once the chocolate is fully melted, remove from heat and let the liquid chocolate cool slightly.
  7. Add your finely chopped mushrooms or truffles to the liquid chocolate.
  8. Stir the mixture to distribute the mushrooms evenly.
  9. Pour the chocolate into molds or the baking tray and place in the refrigerator to cool.
  10. Once set, wrap the chocolates in foil and store in the refrigerator.

Magic Truffle Pesto

Who doesn't love a flavorful pesto! And it masks the not-so-pleasant taste of mushrooms or truffles quite effectively.

For the magic pesto, you'll need:

  • Magic truffles or mushrooms (fresh or dried)
  • Blender
  • 2 cups fresh basil
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pine nuts
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

  1. Add all ingredients to the blender and process until you have a thick paste.
  2. That's it! Enjoy your meal!

Magic Truffle Salad

It's often recommended to consume mushrooms or truffles on an empty stomach not only to maximize the trip but also to minimize the chance of nausea. But that doesn't mean you should stay hungry! You can always make a delicious salad that doesn't interfere with the psilocybin absorption in your body and also satiates your hunger. Here's some inspiration:

  • Mixed vegetables
  • Goat cheese
  • Pine nuts, walnuts
  • Tomatoes
  • Avocados
  • Cucumber

For the dressing, you can use apple cider vinegar dressings, vinegar, and herb dressings, or sprinkle some olive oil with black pepper for flavor.

  1. Wash and dry your vegetables and cut the larger leaves.
  2. You can toast the nuts if you prefer.
  3. Wash the tomatoes, cucumbers, and cut them as desired.
  4. Peel the avocado, remove the pit, and cut as desired.
  5. Cut the goat cheese and sprinkle over the salad.
  6. Cut the mushrooms or truffles into small pieces and sprinkle them over.
  7. Add your choice of dressing. Lemon or vinegar dressings are best.

Mushroom Capsules

Perhaps you're not fond of the taste of mushrooms and truffles and also not into cooking. You can avoid the unpleasant taste by making capsules. An added benefit is that you can microdose with these capsules.

Making a mushroom or truffle capsule is straightforward. You'll need:

  • Dried mushrooms or truffles
  • Empty gelatin capsules – size 0
  • Coffee grinder

  1. Grind the mushrooms/truffles with the coffee grinder into a fine powder.
  2. Use a capsule machine to pack the empty gelatin capsules with the powder.
  3. Store in an airtight bag/bottle.

Determine the dosage before adding the powder to the capsules. Since the gelatin has to dissolve in the stomach first, it takes a bit longer for the psilocybin to start working.

Mushrooms and truffles are an excellent way to broaden your mind, but it's also straightforward to experience a bad trip. If you're a new user, make sure you prepare yourself.
